Brian
Birkhofer and his #15b team traveled to the Ohio Valley over the
August 27-28 weekend for two Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
showdowns in the states of Indiana and Kentucky. On Friday night,
the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana played host
to a $10,000 to win program. Brian ran third in heat race action
and later rolled off from the outside of the fifth row in the
50-lap main event. In front of a huge crowd and the cameras of
the SPEED Channel, Brian charged to the front of the field to
earn a stellar runner-up performance behind only winner Dale McDowell.
The action quickly turned to the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown,
Kentucky on Saturday evening for another $10,000 to win Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series event. Brian once again ran third in
his stacked heat race to earn the eleventh starting spot in the
'Bluegrass Classic.' The Muscatine, Iowa native sported another
fast racecar in the 50-lapper, as he blew past eight competitors
en route to a third place effort behind only winner Don O'Neal
and runner-up Mike Marlar. Full results from the LOLMDS doubleheader
can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.
AUGUST 22, 2010
The
Birkhofer Racing team trekked south to the Batesville Motor Speedway
in Locust Grove, Arkansas from August 20-22 for the 18th Annual
'Topless 100.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned
the nation's premier topless race, which boasted a hefty $40,000
payday. Brian Birkhofer timed in ninth fastest in his group during
qualifying on Friday night and later ran fourth in his stacked
heat race. On Saturday evening, Brian earned a coveted transfer
spot through his B-Main, as he finished second behind Ray Moore.
Following the consolation races, Mother Nature invaded the area
and rain pushed back the 'Topless 100' until Sunday afternoon.
Brian rolled off twenty-first in the 100-lapper on Sunday, which
took place on a sun-baked racetrack. The Muscatine, Iowa native
wound up retiring on lap 42 and settled for a twenty-fourth place
effort in the crown jewel event. Complete results from the SPEED
Channel taped program can be located online at www.lucasdirt.com.
AUGUST 16, 2010
Brian
Birkhofer and his #15b team invaded the venerable Florence Speedway
in Union, Kentucky on August 13-14 for the annual running of the
'North/South 100.' The $50,000 to win crown jewel extravaganza
was once again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
On Friday night during the qualifying session, Brian laid down
the eighth fastest lap in Group B. The Muscatine, Iowa native
then earned the third transfer spot through his heat race on Saturday
and later rolled off sixteenth on the grid in the 100-lap main
event. During the course of the 'North/South 100,' Brian advanced
up to as high as seventh in the running order before slipping
back to finish tenth in the final rundown.
Earlier in the week, the Birkhofer Racing team was in action
at the West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, Iowa on Tuesday evening,
August 10. An unsanctioned 'Tornado Tuesday' event took place
at the 1/2-mile oval and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs.
Brian won his heat race in preliminary competition and later blitzed
past seven competitors during the A-Main to score a hard fought
runner-up performance behind winner Denny Eckrich. Full results
from both West Liberty and Florence can be located online at www.dirtondirt.com.
AUGUST 8, 2010
The
Birkhofer Racing team returned to Dirt Late Model action from
August 4-7 in the Badger State of Wisconsin! Up first for the
#15b team was a trip to the Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin
on Wednesday night for a $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late
Model Series showdown. Brian Birkhofer timed in fifth fastest
in WOOLMS qualifying and later ran second in heat race action.
After starting sixth on the grid in the 50-lap main event, Brian
maintained his starting spot and finished in the sixth position
behind winner Billy Moyer, Brady Smith, Jimmy Mars, Josh Richards,
and Shane Clanton.
Next up was the annual 'USA Nationals' weekend at the legendary
Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin on Thursday, Friday,
and Saturday. A $5,000 to win unsanctioned tune-up race kicked
off the action at CLS on Thursday evening. Brian qualified thirty-first
quickest and later ran fourth in his stacked heat race. Following
a B-Main triumph, the Muscatine, Iowa native wound up sixteenth
in the final rundown of the 40-lap feature event.
The World of Outlaws Late Model Series was back at it again over
the weekend at Cedar Lake, as the national touring series sanctioned
the 23rd Annual 'USA Nationals.' Brian logged the eighteenth fastest
lap during time trials on Friday and later finished fourth in
heat race action. The "Muscatine Madman" once again
won his B-Main on Saturday to earn the eighteenth starting spot
in the $50,000 to win 'USA Nationals.' Unfortunately, Brian could
only complete 33 circuits in the 100-lap crown jewel event and
was credited with an eighteenth place performance in the attrition-filled
race. Complete results from Shawano and Cedar Lake can be viewed
online at www.worldofoutlaws.com
and www.cedarlakespeedway.com.
