Brian Birkhofer and his #15b Dirt Late Model team invaded the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri from May 9-11 for the 2nd Annual 'SuperClean Diamond Nationals.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the mega-event and a $40,000 top prize was up for grabs. The cameras of the SPEED Channel were on hand throughout the extended Mothers Day weekend to tape all of the dirt-slinging action for broadcast later in year.

The Muscatine, Iowa driver, who came into the weekend as the defending race champion, unfortunately could not make his way into the starting field for this year's 'SuperClean Diamond Nationals.' Brian timed in ninth fastest in his group during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying on Friday night, May 9. After Mother Nature took the win on Saturday, the rest of the program was shuffled back a day to Sunday, May 11. Brian finished sixth in his competitive heat race on Sunday afternoon, but did not finish his B-Main and therefore did not transfer into the 100-lap 'SuperClean Diamond Nationals.' The Birkhofer Racing team invaded the Show-Me State of Missouri last weekend for a pair of World of Outlaws Late Model Series shows. Their doubleheader weekend was highlighted by a $7,000 triumph on Sunday night, May 4 at the Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri. Brian Birkhofer was third quick in WOOLMS time trials at Monett and later won his competitive heat race. After drawing the pole position for the A-Main, Brian kept his #15b machine out front of the stellar field for the entire 40 laps en route to the victory over Wendell Wallace, Tim Fuller, Darrell Lanigan, and Chub Frank.

A night earlier "Birky" was in action at the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Missouri on Saturday for a $10,000 to win WOOLMS event. Brian was second fastest in qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. After starting from the fifth spot in the 40-lap A-Main, the Muscatine, Iowa native ran amongst the top five until suffering a late flat tire that relegated him to a disappointing eighteenth place performance. Brian Birkhofer and his #15b Dirt Late Model team entered a pair of marquee events last week in Iowa and North Carolina. The nearby Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa kicked things off for the Birkhofer Racing team last Wednesday, April 16 with a $5,000 to win PolyDome World Dirt Racing League (WDRL) Series show. Brian, who wheeled a brand-new car built by himself and Jimmy and Chris Mars over the off-season, finished fourth in his heat race to earn the seventeenth starting spot for the 40-lap main event. The driver known as "Birky" put on a show for his home state fans in the A-Main, as he blew by fifteen other competitors to notch an impressive runner-up performance to winner Darren Miller.

The dirt-slinging action then turned south over the weekend to the pristine Dirt Track at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Brian timed in eighth quickest in World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying on Friday night, April 18 and later finished third in his stout heat race. When the action resumed on Saturday evening at the 4/10-mile speedplant, Brian drew a number eight, which earned him the rights to the outside fourth row starting spot for the $50,000 to win 'Colossal 100.' Unfortunately for the Muscatine, Iowa driver, he was involved in an early incident during the 100-lapper and wound up thirty-fifth in the final rundown.
